New School Board Member Training

  • February 23, 2011
  • 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Attend Virtually From Your School!

OSBA and OACTE join forces to present new board member training, tailored for your board members! FREE

On the evening of Feb. 23, the two groups will conduct video training delivered live to your school if you wish to participate and have videoconferencing equipment. Thanks to technology, the program’s speakers will be coming to your schools from career-tech centers across

Ohio .

OSBA and OACTE are providing this professional development at no cost as a member service.

If you wish to be a host site, you must notify Scott Ebright at OSBA (sebright@ohioschoolboards.org or 614-848-7799) before Feb. 10, 2011. If you do not have the technical capabilities to be a host site, you are welcome to attend at a neighboring career-tech center.

The initial concept behind this convenient training program is to allow you to host your newly appointed career-tech board members at your building and have you join in the program so you will know just what the board members are learning. This will complement your own board orientation efforts.

The goal is to help your new leaders become better career-tech board members quicker.

We are expanding the invitation for this teleworkshop to all Ohio K-12 board members who might be interested in learning more about career-technical education (CTE). This will allow other school board members to gain a better understanding of the differences in governing CTE and K-12 school districts. It also would provide you with an additional opportunity to showcase your programs to the rest of your area school board members and develop relationships with those board members you do not see regularly.

OSBA will send e-mails to all superintendents, treasurers and board members announcing this innovative training. We will be telling people to contact you to register. Once the event has concluded, if you send OSBA a list of those who completed the session, they will receive credit for the OSBA Award of Achievement.

The program features experienced and respected superintendents and treasurer, and veteran dual board members. The agenda is:
